The qualification periods increase in length as the month (and the promotion) progresses, with each freeroll’s qualification period starting on April 1 and therefore each successive week’s qualification period lasting an additional week. As such, the prize pools also increase in this promotion from week to week, starting at $2,500 for week 1 and moving to $5,000 for week 2, $7,500 for week 3, and $10,000 for week 4.

Full Tilt Poker Posts 14 Job Openings Online

Last Updated on

In a bit of interesting poker news, the massive online poker site Full Tilt Poker is looking to be back in business soon apparently.  There is a pending sale of the company standing currently, and the parent company of Full Tilt, Pocket Kings Ltd has decided to post 14 different job openings on a job site.  The job postings aren’t brand new either though, as they have been up for about a month now since they were posted at the beginning of March, which makes the job postings even more interesting.

Laurent Tapie did state that he was looking to hire staff for the popular site, and it looks like he has officially begun before the sale was actually finished.  Tapie apparently has moved to Dublin, Ireland to make sure that things go smoothly with the end of the sale on the site, and also to hire his staff for the site as well.  Tapie will also be working on a key part of the transition which includes getting a license through the Aldernay Gambling Control Commission (AGCC), which could be one of the toughest parts of the entire process though.

These rumors about a potential sale have been swirling for nearly half a year, and it seems that if you are a player who has money frozen on the site currently then you could be poised for some good news coming soon.  On top of that though, if you live around Dublin and are looking for a job then there are many openings through Pocket Kings Ltd as well!  Most of the jobs through the site that are available are customer service jobs in different languages, so if you want to work for the new version of Full Tilt Poker, you could have a shot to take down one of the spots if you can speak one of the languages needed.

The potential sale of Full Tilt Poker doesn’t leave us with any exact day as to when we should expect the site to be up and running, but it is definitely good news for the online poker world, as Full Tilt Poker is one of the most popular and well-known sites out there.

Provisional Poker Stars 2012 Spring Championship of Online Poker Schedule Released

Last Updated on

Poker Stars has released what it’s calling the provisional schedule for the upcoming 2012 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), running May 6th through 20th. They’re calling it provisional because they’re still leaving it open for player input. Players with suggestions about making changes to the schedule can contact PokerStars at scoop @ pokerstars . com to submit theirs.

Until and unless any unforseen schedule changes occur, however, the series is set to feature 38 tournaments, each with a low, mid, and high stakes range for players to compete in, giving all levels of players equal opportunity to win big in this series. That makes for a total of 114 tournaments scheduled in the 2012 PokerStars SCOOP.

Every day on the schedule, even if it changes slightly between now and then, will feature 2-3 events, starting on May 6th with No Limit Holdem, 6-max, for a $27, $215, and $2,100 buy-in, respectively. The other event that day is straight NL Holdem with the same buy-in levels. The main event on May 20th has an $82, $700 and $7,500 direct buy-in, respectively.

Of course, PokerStars will shortly start running a Step satellite tournament series offering daily qualifiers into the various events making up the 2012 Spring Championship of Online Poker.

No guaranteed prize pools have been announced yet, but if last year’s series is any indication, the bounty should be big, to say the least. At the 2011 SCOOP, $40 million was given away, including $505k given to the winner of the 2011 SCOOP main event, and that’s after a deal at the final table ended the game early with a 5-way split.

Carbon Poker Invites Players to All-In Or Fold Their Way to $2,250

Last Updated on

The most daring of players at Carbon Poker can win $2,250 for just a $1 investment in an ongoing promotion at the site called “All-in or Fold Your Way to $2,250”.

It’s not the catchiest promotion title, but the promo itself can become quite addictive. All you have to do to claim the $2,250 top prize for yourself is play through 10 successive levels of All-in or Fold Heads-up tournaments, which, just like they sound, are one-on-one online poker tournaments in which your only choices in each hand are to go all-in or fold until one player busts and the other one is declared winner. (The only exception to the heads-up aspect of the game is level 1, which contains 9 players per round.)

You can register for the first level for just $1.10 or you can register at whatever level you feel comfortable at and pay the direct buy-in:

1. $1.10
2. $5.50
3. $10.50
4. $20
5. $39
6. $77
7. $152
8. $300
9. $594
10. $1,180

Finish first place in any level and advance to the next level. Finish at any other level and you’re out and have to start over again with a direct buy-in at the level of your choice. The only exceptions to this are at level 1, where the 2nd through 4th place finishers get to repeat level 1, and level 10, where 2nd place gets to go back to level 6 for free.

AIOF Step tournament entry coupons are non-transferrable and players cannot use them to enter any other tournament at Carbon Poker besides All-in or Fold Steps events.

Party Poker Premier League Has One Spot Left Open

Last Updated on

Party PokerThe Party Poker Premier League will kick off on April 10th, and it features 14 of the top professional poker players in the game, as well as two qualifiers for the event as well.  The tournament happens just before the World Poker Tour’s Vienna Main Event kicks off, so it will be taking place in Vienna, Austria.  Up until yesterday though, the event hand only 12 professional poker players on the roster, so they were looking to fill the two additional spots with pro players.  By the day’s end, one of the biggest names in poker had joined on board when Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier filled the role of the 13th player to be added.

Grospellier has an incredibly impressive resume throughout his career, but probably the most impressive is the fact that he currently has hit the Triple Crown of poker as of last year.  He was excited to take part in the Party Poker Premier League, as this will be his first appearance in the tournament.  It has one of the more interesting formats out there, but most importantly features some of the biggest and best in the world of poker today.

As far as the other players who will be included on the list, you’ll find the likes of Patrik Antonius, Vanessa Selbst, Sam Trickett, Tony G, Luke “FullFlush” Schwartz”, Erik Seidel, Andy Frankenberger, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Eugene Katchalov, Tom Dwan, Phil Laak, and Daniel Cates.  Just from looking at the names on that list you’ll see that some players are some of the most experienced and more “veteran players”, and others are more of the “young and up and coming” poker players of today.  Frankenberger for example is the reigning World Poker Tour Player of the Year, while player’s like Seidel have eight gold bracelets to their name.

One last bit of news about the tournament is that the World Poker Tour Vienna Main Event’s tournament director Matt Savage will also be handing the Party Poker tournament as well.  One of the best tournament directors in the game of poker today will have a busy week during that span in the middle of April, but I’m sure both tournament committees are more than confident that Savage will do an excellent job.

Pokerstars Releases Zoom Poker Beta – Fastest Poker Format Yet

Last Updated on

Pokerstars has just come out with the fastest format for playing online poker cash games yet. They’re calling it, appropriately, Zoom Poker, and right now at the site, player’s can test out this new advent in a Beta version.

As mentioned already, Zoom Poker is a cash game format. One of the features that makes Zoom Poker is most distinctive is that your opponents change each hand. Instead of playing against the same players at your table each hand, you’ll be playing against a pool of players and switched up among tables. How does this make game play faster?

Because you get switched to a newly dealing active hand the instant you fold out of any hand. That way, you’re not sitting around waiting for the hand to play out before you get your turn to jump in the game again. Instead you just jump, right away, from one to the other.

They even have a button called “Fast Fold” that allows to Fold whenever your ready, without having to wait for your turn to come around again.

Players can now find a special Zoom tab mixed in with the other game types in their PokerStars lobby. Usually you’ll be started out in the Big Blind when you first sit in to play Zoom Poker. Seating is random from that point onward. Which players are on the Blinds is determined based on which player at each newly formed table has been on the respective Blinds the least.
