Last Updated on

Cake Poker’s online satellite tournament series for the upcoming Aussie Millions 2013 is underway.

The 2013 Aussie Millions runs from January 12 to 30, 2012 in Melbourne, Australia. This will be the 10th annual incarnation of the event, which this time around projects a $2 million AUD prize for first place and an estimated $20 million AUD prize pool.

Satellites run daily through Dec 18th at Cake Poker for this upcoming main event, with buy-ins starting at just $0.20. Players can also choose to buy-in directly to the Aussie Millions $16,000 final for a buy-in of $250 + $18. These finals take place on the last Sunday of every month at 4 pm ET and award one 2013 Aussie Millions prize package for every $16k in the prize pool.

Or you can win a seat via a semi-final, running a 5:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 9:00 pm every day for a $40 buy-in. Or win a seat in that event through a rebuy/add-on satellite costing $11 to enter. Or you can win a seat in that event through one of two different Aussie Millions $16K Semi-Qualifiers, both taking place daily every 4 hours, one for $6.50 and the other, a rebuy/add-on event costing $2.20 R&A to enter. Of course, you can always start off with the super satellite costing just $1.10 or $0.40 with rebuys and add-ons.

Each Cake Poker Aussie Millions prize package winner will receive the $10,600 AUD buy-in for the No Limit Hold’em Main Event, plus some extra money to help with expenses for travel and accommodations as well as entry to a 10th Anniversary Aussie Millions VIP Player Party.

Cake Poker Extends Biggest Guarantees “Indefinitely”

Last Updated on

For July 2012, Cake Poker has extended some its most popular biggest money guaranteed tournaments, namely its $65k Super Stack Guaranteed and $100k Super Stack Guaranteed tournaments. Both these events have been extended “indefinitely” which means that as long as they keep coming back for more, you can keep coming back for more. Players in these events can continue to expect to find enormous overlays (read: better poker odds, aka “more for your money”) in those events.

The direct buy-in for the $65k GTD Super Stack, which starts at 21:00GMT (5:00 pm ET) is $500 + $30 while the direct buy-in for the $100k GTD Super Stacks, which starts one hour earlier, at 20:00GMT (4:00 pm ET), is $100 + $9. (By the way, that’s not a typo: the $100,000 GTD buy-in is only $109 compared to the $530 buy-in for the $65,000 GTD.

What’s more, on July 1, Cake Poker started adding $500 bounties on the heads of ten of its Take Cake poker pros, like Felipe Mojave, in the site’s new innovation: “Pro Elite’ Bounty Edition tournaments. Expect to see more of these popping up at Cake Poker guaranteed events as time goes on, including in upcoming $100k Super Stack GTDs and $65k Super Stack GTDs.

For those unfamiliar with the term, a bounty tournament is one in which a certain player or players have a price on his head, so to speak. The player who eliminates any player with a bounty on his head from the tournament receives that bounty, which is theirs to keep no matter how they fare in the overall tournament.

Cake Poker Offers Limited Time $300 Reload Bonus

Last Updated on

Right now Cake Poker is offering a 50% reload bonus up to $300, but only for a limited time. From Thursday, May 24 at 6:00 pm GMT through Monday, May 28 at 6:00 pm GMT, Cake Poker will be giving its players a 50% bonus on a single deposit made during this period using the bonus code CHOCO. A $600 deposit into an existing Cake Poker account between May 24 and 28 will get you the maximum bonus amount of $300 to play with at the Cake Poker site.

Bonuses are of course subject to Cake Poker’s regular bonus rollover requirements. Rather than playing through the bonus and deposit amount a certain number of times, as you do with many other site’s bonus requirements, Cake Poker merely requires you to earn FPPs playing at their ring game and tournament tables. Pending bonus dollars are released in increments of $5 at a time each time a player earns 83.33 FPPs.

New players at Cake Poker, meanwhile, can enjoy a special 110% first time deposit bonus up to a maximum bonus amount of $600. In addition, new players who take advantage of this first deposit bonus will also receive a ticket to an exclusive freeroll tournament: Cake Poker’s New Depositor $500 Freeroll.

Cake Poker also has a refer-a-friend bonus with which players can earn from $25 to $100 per friend referred.

The First Deposit Bonus package and Refer-a-Friend Bonuses are available at Cake Poker at all times. But the 50% reload bonus up to $300 is only available now through Monday, May 28 at 18:00 GMT and only using the bonus code CHOCO.

Cake Poker Offers Turbo Gold Cards and The $40,000 Diamond Mine in May

Last Updated on

Cake Poker is holding not one but two big promotions this month of May 2012: Turbo Gold Cards and The Diamond Mine Gold Card Tournament Series.

In the Turbo Gold Cards promotion, players at Cake Poker’s cash game tables between Saturdays May 5th and 12th can earn twice the Gold Cards they ordinarily would simply for playing between the hours of 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm GMT or 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm ET.

This should give you ample opportunity to collect as many diamond suited Gold Cards as you can, because diamonds are the suit of the month this month at Cake Poker, with a $40,000 Diamond Mine Gold Card Tournament Series.

In this part of the promotion, every day between May 15th and 27th, Cake Poker will be holding a different Gold Card tournament with a different Gold Card (deuce through Ace) required for entry. These tournaments have no cash or points buy-ins, only Gold Cards, which can be purchased or traded for at The Exchange if not earned through regular play. Each of these tournaments have real money prizes, from $1,000 to $5,000.

Players able to enter all 13 of these Diamond Mine tournaments will also earn seats in the Flawless Final, a freeroll tournament with a $10,000 prize pool that will take place on May 31st.

Be sure to note when reading a Diamond Mine tournament’s entry requirements that you see which series Gold Cards are eligible for entry. Sometimes it’s just the series ’12 cards that are eligible, sometimes it’s any series.

Lock Poker to Buy the Cake Poker Network

Last Updated on

Lock PokerLock Poker has reached an agreement to purchase the Cake Poker Network. Lock Poker had their much anticipated LockOP’s Series abruptly cancelled by the Merge Poker Network last month and appear to have decided to have more control over their future by leaving the mismanaged Merge Poker Network. Gambling911.com first reported this news and we have also confirmed it with our sources.

As of now the Cake Poker Room as well as several other skins will continue to operate and will not be integrated into Lock Poker. Lock Poker has exploded in popularity since Black Friday and is believed to be the biggest earner on the Merge Network.

Sources have also said that the whole Cake Poker Network will be revamped with new technology like being Mac compatible, better player rewards, upgraded software, bigger tournament guarantees and more.

As a player, there is nothing for you need to do. Once software changes are ready, Lock Poker players will login and be redirected to a new download. That’s it. Cake Poker players, it business as usual for you with one exception. Lock Poker already has it’s own cashier, which will be integrated into the software. All 2012 Series games will continue as well as gold cards and other loyalty programs.

This will be the second time that Lock Poker is on the Cake Network. Only this time they will have total control over everything. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about this deal.

Cake Poker Offers $4k for Russian Roulette

Last Updated on

Not the kind of Russian Roulette you’re thinking of, certainly, but inspired by it, no doubt, this much safer alternative to that game is a leaderboard promotion cake Poker is holding for its new “Russian Roulette” style ring games and tournaments at Cake Poker.

CakePoker’s Russian Roulette is not a poker game. Instead, each player gets 3 tokens to use in making a simple decision: To Shoot or Not to Shoot. That is the question. If you shoot and the gun goes off, you lose. If you shoot and the gun doesn’t go off, you collected the pot and stay alive. If you don’t shoot, pay another token into the pot and stay alive as the turn goes to the next player.

The $4,000 Russian Roulette Leaderboard competition started on Sunday, April 15, 2012 and it runs for the next four weeks, awarding $1,000 per week until the full $4,000 prize pool has been awarded.

Every dollar a player spends playing one of these games earns that player an additional leaderboard point. The 100 top points earners each week will win a cash prize of up to $100.

There is no extra buy-in or opt-in requirement for this contest. It is simply offered to all players at Cake Poker’s new Russian Roulette tournaments and ring games, simply to entice you to spend more time (and, okay, money too) experiencing this unique new offering.

Those 4 race periods are from April 15 to 22; April 22 to 29; April 29 to May 6; and May 6 to 13. Each race period starts at 12:00 am (00:00) GMT on its listed start date and ends at 11:59 pm (23:59) GMT on its listed end date. Leader board tallies will be updated on the site every half hour.

Cake Poker Series 2012 Begins

Last Updated on

As of April 5, Series 2012, Cake Poker’s satellite series for the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event, has begun. It features weekly satellite final tournaments on every Sunday at 05:00 ET or 9 pm GMT for a $215 buy-in. At each of these finals, one player will win a prize package that includes a seat in the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA for every $10,000 in the prize pool.

You can avoid playing that $215 buy-in by winning your seat in the final through a Step 4 satellite. These events have $65 buy-ins and send one player to the finals for every $215 collected.

Likewise you can win your seat in the Step 4 event by finishing high enough in a Step 3 event. These have $22 buy-ins and award tickets to the Step 4 event for every $65 collected.

You can similarly win seats in the Step 3 event through a $3.30 Step 2 event. These have one rebuy and one add-on each award a ticket to the Step 3 event for every $22 collected.

Tournaments in steps 2 through 4 take place at Cake Poker every 4 hours.

Taking place every 2 hours is the Step 1 satellite, with unlimited rebuys and add-ons (during the permitted period) for an initial buy-in of $0.30.

There’s one more way still that you can get seats in any of these satellites, whether a Step event or the Final, and that’s by paying with Gold Chips, one of the currencies earned as part of the Cake Poker player loyalty and rewards program. This takes place in the Cake Shop.

Cake Poker Holds $100,000 Points Race

Last Updated on

For the month of March 2012, Cake Poker is holding a special $100,000 Points Race in which players can earn cash prizes of up to $7,500 a piece. More than 1,500 cash prizes in all are up for grabs.

There are five races in all, each with a $20,000 prize pool. Four of these five $20k races are weekly events, paying out the top 350 FPP earners. And one of these is a $20k monthly race, also paying out the top 350 FPP earners. The maximum prize a player can earn in any of these 5 periods is $1,500, making the combined total potential per player winning $7,500.

Players earn points in the race by accumulating FPPs (Frequent Player Points) with each FPP equal to one point in the race. Players entering late in a given week will still have as much chance to win big in this promotion as any other player, with the value from each weekly race’s points tally added to the player’s monthly points tally for the monthly race.

Players earn FPPs at both Cake Poker’s ring games and tournament tables at a rate of 1 FPP per $1 in rake at the ring game tables or 7 FPPs for every $1 in tournament fees paid.

The first place finisher in each race gets the $1,500 top prize. The runner-up then gets $1,000 with the third place finisher getting $750; fourth getting $500 and fifth getting $400, down to the 301th through 350th place finishers, each of whom will receive $15.
