888 Poker Announces Aussie Millions 2012 Satellites

The latest poker site to offer satellite tournaments into the 2012 Aussie Millions Poker Championship is 888 Poker. This will mark the 10th anniversary of the Aussie Millions, and the total prize pool is currently estimated to be around AUD $22 million.

The 888 Poker Aussie Millions Qualifier takes place on January 7, 2012 at 09:00 GMT (or 8:00 pm EDT) and has a $500 + $25 direct buy-in. At this event, a minimum of two seats in the 2012 Aussie Millions Poker Championship will be awarded, each worth AUD $10,600. Registration for this event is now open and can be found under the “Live Events” and “All” tabs in your 888 Poker tournamnet lobby.

Players can avoid paying the $525 direct buy-in into the Aussie Milions Qualifier, however, by winning their way into the event via cheaper satellite tournaments. Buy-ins for these satellites start at just $1.10.

The 2012 Aussie Millions will take place January 22 – 28, 2012 at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia.

As always with any 888 Poker qualifier tournament, all the usual site terms and conditions and privacy policy apply. The prize for this event is a seat in the Aussie Millions 2012 main event only. Qualifier winners themselves are responsible for getting themselves to Australia for the event and for arranging and paying for their stay while there for the tournament. 888 Poker Hosts Teams Poker

888 Poker has just introduced Teams Poker, a promotion based on European football teams. In 888 Poker’s Teams Poker, players can win money for supporting their favorite teams in some of their biggest matches, including teams in Barclay’s Premier League from England, La Liga from Spain and Bundesliga from Germany.

Throughout the entire football season for each of these leagues, 888 Poker has scheduled an online poker tournament for each of the league’s big matches. These events all have a $0.99 buy-in and a $100 prize pool. When you join any of these tournaments, you’ll be asked to select one of the two teams competing in the actual match corresponding to the event. If your team wins the tournament, you win money however you individually finish in the event. On the first of October and the first of November are also special teams poker fixtures called the Zodiac Wars: Battle of the Star Signs.

888 Poker is also hosting weekly tournaments for each of the three leagues. The weekly Barclay’s Premier League event takes place every Monday at 19:40 GMT; the weekly Bundesliga event takes place every Sunday at 19:40 GMT; and the weekly La Liga Challenges take place every Thursday at 19:40 GMT. These events feature all the teams from each league. They are played just like a normal 888 Poker tournament, except that half the prize pool is split amongst the players in the winning team. 888 Poker Welcomes Santiago Canizares With Four Poker Challenges

The newest pro player to be signed by 888 Poker is not a poker pro but a Spanish football pro, Santiago Canizares, player in three FIFA World Cup tournaments and 4 UEFA European Football Championship series’. But just because he’s not a poker pro, doesn’t mean he’s not a fierce poker player. In fact, to prove his poker mettle, Santiago Canizares will be heading up four poker challenges coming up at 888 Poker over the next several weeks.

The first takes place on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 and is called the Canizares Bounty Challenge. It starts at 19:00 GMT and features a low $1 buy-in. The prize pool is $500, plus there’s an extra $100 bounty going to the player who knocks Canizares out of the tournament. There will be a second Canizares Bounty Challenge taking place on August 3 in the same time slot.

The other pair of big challenges featuring this legend of football is the Canizares PokerCam Challenge, taking place Thursday, July 28 at 19:00 GMT. This event has a 5-cent plus 10-cent buy-in ($0.05 + $0.10). No guaranteed prize pool is listed, but players will at least be guaranteed to be sitting in front of their webcams at the same tournament where Santiago Canizares will also be sitting in front of his webcam.
