There’s a new status rung on the ladder at America’s Cardroom and they’re calling it ACR Elite. Expanding their Elite Benefits program now to include a status of all status levels – what the military-themed poker site refers to as the 5-Star Generals of online poker – who play the game “like their life depends on it.” And to kick off this new honor, Americas Cardroom has chosen to name Dusty Schmidt its first honoree.

Dusty Schmidt (also currently the only ACR Elite honoree) is known on the America’s Cardroom online poker tables as Leatherass9, and in only 7 years of playing online he has competed in over 11 million hands over 10,000 hours of playing time, during which he won over $4 million dollars. If the name looks familiar to some of you sports fans, then you’re on the right track…or should we say “course”, like golf course.

That’s right, this is the same Dusty Schmidt who broke two of Tiger Woods’ own junior records on the golf course. Schmidt was also the Golden States Tour’s leading money winner when he was only 23 years old. A heart attack ended his golfing career, but launched onto a new career in professional poker that has led to his becoming the inaugural America’s Cardroom player to achieve ACR Elite status level.

Leatherass9 moved to Americas Cardroom in July 2012 after the site introduced its major ongoing promotion The Beast. He cited the large bonuses, numerous promotions and aggressive player loyalty program as reasons for his move to the site, and from the way things look, he’ll be sticking around for quite a while.
